A recent article in the Helensburgh Advertiser reported on a local student’s research into tree loss and increased flooding risk following woodland felling at Blairvadach. As part of the wider community response, the Rhu and Shandon Community Trust has been among the local organisations voicing concern about the changes to the woodland landscape.

Trust representatives have emphasised the importance of protecting semi-natural woodland and the impacts that logging can have on local ecosystems and drainage patterns. Their position aligns with broader community efforts calling for more careful woodland management and greater consideration of environmental effects such as flooding.

The Trust continues to engage with residents and local authorities to ensure that woodland stewardship and community interests are central to future decision-making.
