Nature & Environment
Rhu & Shandon’s natural environment is central to the character, wellbeing, and resilience of our community. Woodland, shoreline, wildlife and biodiversity, are all part of our commitment to protecting, restoring, and enhancing the local environment. We want to ensure it is cared for and protected for generations to come.

Focus
Our nature and environment work is currently concentred on two ongoing initiatives. Ardenconnel Wood, which is owned by the Rhu & Shandon Community Trust (RSCT) and the Shandon Woodland Community Group. In both of these RSCT works to support and restore the wider woodland area in which Rhu and Shandon are located.

A community-led effort to care for Shandon's native, broadleaved woodland.
