A well-attended coffee morning at Rhu and Shandon Community Centre raised over £800 to support ongoing improvements to the hall, which local residents took over from Argyll and Bute Council last year. Work already completed includes upgrades to the heating system, with plans underway for new doors, window repairs, and toilet renovations — all carried out sympathetically given the building's origins in 1905. The hall committee chair described it as a much-loved local asset, and the funds raised will help ensure further work can go ahead.

As well as raising money, the event gave local clubs and organisations a chance to showcase what they offer — from pilates, badminton, and a writing circle to a day nursery and community garden. Members of the Rhu and Shandon Community Trust were also on hand to share updates on the Ardencaple Wood Project and the completion of the Lover's Lane resurfacing. Volunteers kept things running throughout what had been a busy week of preparation, with the turnout reflecting just how central the hall remains to community life in the area.
